About BLD
BLD is a Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community.
BLD (Bukás-Loób Sa Diyós, meaning "Open in the Spirit of God") Catholic Charismatic Covenant Community is a global association of the lay faithful. As such, it professes communion with the Roman Catholic Church and submits to the authority of the Roman Pontiff and the Diocesan Bishop of the local Church.
The BLD-Seattle District was founded in December 1996 as an outreach of BLD-Newark, New Jersey. It was blessed by the Archdiocese of Seattle to conduct Marriage, Solo-Parents, Singles, and Youth Encounters; Life in the Spirit Seminars; Teachings; and other activities promoting spiritual well-being.
We are of one heart, mind, and spirit in sharing a common vision and mission, based on Christian love and faith, service and worship.
Our Purpose
The purpose of the BLD Covenant Community is to empower lay faithful in evangelization by promoting the values of the Kingdom of God among individuals, couples, and families through the Encounter and renewal programs.
Our Vision
Our Vision is inspired by the Holy Spirit to be living witnesses for transformation in Christ to bring about a world of justice, human development, and true peace.
Our Mission
Our Mission responds to the challenges of our particular place, time, and culture:
We will evangelize families and build communities of faith through Encounters, Life in the Spirit Seminars, and Discipleship Formation.
We will give formation on personal and family prayer, pro-life values, Catholic social teachings, and stewardship. We will actively participate in the life and mission of the Church in accord with our God-given gifts.
For our country, we will work on poverty alleviation through scholarships, housing for the poor, and advocacies for life, environment, and good governance.
Our DCS
The District Council of Stewards (“DCS”) is the local governing body of our BLD District, comprised of five resident Couple Stewards who manage five apostolates: Pastoral, Evangelization, Formation, Management, and Mission.
